Jeet Kune Do (JKD) is the name Sijo Bruce Lee gave to his own personal theories and principles on street fighting and self-defense. JKD was designed by Sijo Bruce Lee and Guro Dan Inosanto. This martial art system and strategy is quick, effective, and without limitations. This art provides you with an understanding of situational awareness, understanding of varying target and fighting ranges such as, long distance (kicking-range), middle distance (hand-range), to close quarter (trapping & grappling range).
The movements are precise, efficient, and utilize the most direct lines and angles of attack. Once an attack has been initiated, there is never a moment of pause or hesitation. As one technique nears completion, it starts to blend into the next and so forth: one continuous flowing motion until the conflict is resolved.
There are numerous arts that are incorporated in Jeet Kune Do. Which ones are ever changing depending on what the students need to help improve and what will work best for them, but to also keep up with the ever changing times and necessities of being able to learn how to protect oneself. The primary arts at the core of our curriculum are:
- Jun Fan Gung Fu/ Jun Fan Kickboxing
- Kali (Filipino Weapons)
- Muay Thai (Kickboxing)
- Wing Chun (Trapping)
Other arts commonly taught and used in our classes and JKD curriculum include but are not limited to:
- Silat
- Savate (Boxe Française)
- Jiu Jitsu
- Boxing (Western & Panantukan)
